US diesel exports
Below is a graph that shows what has happened to diesel export from the US since 2006 along with the relationship of those exports to the domestic price of diesel fuel. According to EIA data the US in the last two weeks has exported over 1 million barrels per day. The US is not exporting oil but it is clearly exporting refined product. This does not mean however that the US has stopped importing oil. The EIA reported that last week the US imported 8.168 million barrels of crude oil. We are clearly still working on that “energy independence” thing.
